A nostalgic visit to our childhood homes in New Jersey.
Wow, it looks a LOT different than what I remember. For one, the house has been painted. It used to be dark brown.
The funny thing is that I remember this park being MUCH bigger than it really is. It's actually quite small!
This is the path that lead from our house to the park. I remember my dad creating the trail when we moved in >>>
I remember falling out of that tree and landing flat on my back. I got the wind knocked out of me pretty good, but I was OK.
This is the Tuttle Funeral Home. We passed by this place all the time when we lived here so I totally remember it.
On our way to my second NJ residence in Cedar Knolls. This is Mount View where I went to for 5th grade.
The corner of Poplar Dr and Countrywood. This was where my bus stop was when I went to Memorial Junior High.
The used to be (may still be?) the Richenbach residence. I was friends with Todd and my brother Ken was friends with Scott.
The corner of McNab Ave and Poplar Dr. I had a friend Eddie that lived here, but I can't for the life of me remember his last name!
59 McNab Ave, Cedar Knolls, NJ! I lived here for 5th-8th grade. The boulder in the front is still there!
I can't remember his name, but I was friends with the kid that lived in the house to the left of us.
That pine tree that I'm standing in front of was a mere sapling in my memories. In fact, I think I helped my dad plant it!
This was the basketball court that my dad made for me. The hoop and backboard are gone, but the pole remains.
That's the deck that I helped my dad build. That was a lot of fun. And the thermometer that we put up is still there too! And so is the clothes hanging thing.
I snuck into the woods to get some shots of the back of the house and came upon this cool box turtle.
These things are really cool. They have a hinge in their shell that they can close. I had a pet box turtle just like this while living in this house.
This is a fine specimen - it's a pretty good size for a box turtle. Unfortunately it was pretty shy.
I waited a while for it to pop its head out so I could take a shot, but I soon gave up. In the battle of patience, the turtle won.
