Friday morning, inside the Hidden Lake lodge looking outside at the helicopter we're about to board.
We spent a good portion of the morning just kicking around inside the lodge with the crew.
They don't fly unless the fog has lifted enough to have the proper visibility.
Check out the front of the copter - the bottom is see-through so you can look down when you're flying.
Anemometer to measure wind force and velocity.
Patty, Brian, and Judy getting ready.
Our first helicopter ride!
Here's a shot of me while in the airborne helicopter.
A view out of the helicopter during flight.
We sat in the two rows seats behind the pilot. The pilot was on the right side. The guy in the left co-pilot's seat was one of our guides.
A shot of us nearing the landing zone.
We've touched ground at the landing zone.
Trekking away from the landing zone.
Judy treks on ahead as Patty gets her skis on.
Our guide comes over as the helicopter returns with the next group of people.
The terrain we just came down.
The landing zone at the base of the mountain.
We were given the opportunity to ride in the co-pilot's seat. Here's a shot of the control panel.
The guides made a little makeshift picnic area for lunch.
Lunch consisted of fried chicken (which I haven't had in ages), potato salad, rolls, raw vegetables, and cookies. Mmmmm!
A shot of the helicopter about to take off.
Brian at the top getting ready for another run.
Nice shot looking down from the top of one of our runs.
I forgot to bring my sunglasses for the drive back so here's the next best thing.
The snow wasn't as good this year so you had to get off the beaten path to find the good stuff.
We decided to do some hiking so explore an area we haven't gone before.
It was a beautiful day so the hike wasn't that bad.
Looking back at what we just hiked. You can see the little hut at the top of Sundown (although you may need to look at the full-sized pic to be able to see it).
