Powder Mountain

(Feb 11-13, 2005)
Despite being a dry year, we're still able to find some good powder.

Even though we had a big ol' Suburban, we were still packed to the tilt. It's a good thing Ryan dropped out of the trip or else he'd have to ride on the roof racks!

The legendary Fred Meyer has closed its doors! This Stop and Shop will have to do instead. Maybe Glen Philips will write a song about this store too.

IMG_0136.jpg

A shot of the 'Burban. As usual, I had to man the vehicle while everyone else went shopping because the racks don't have locks on them.

Our radio was kind of cool in that it would display information about certain stations.

IMG_0146.jpg

What's taking these guys so long? Getting bored, I took this shot of an Asian grocery store, but the distance proved too far for my camera to focus.

Packing everyone in.

IMG_0148.jpg

The Suburban was packed to the brim with people, gear, and groceries.

Here's a stunning shot of Judy, one of many great shots to come.

Our lodge was awesome with a huge kitchen.

IMG_0153.jpg

Here's another shot of the kitchen. Quite spacious, no?

IMG_0154.jpg

The living area. About the only bad thing about these condos is the ridiculously small TV.

IMG_0155.jpg

Only in Utah. Polygamy Porter.

IMG_0156.jpg

Indeed, why have just one?

Patty and Judy holding up the huge moose head. This was opposite the bed in that room that Judy and I took.

IMG_0159.jpg

This one was in the other room. Might be kind of disconcerting to wake up in the middle of the night, look up, and see this big moose head made of intertwined twigs.

IMG_0161.jpg

At the top of Paradise right after Judy suffered a butthole-ripping fall coming off the lift. Ouch!

IMG_0167.jpg

Here was a cool little wind swept lip that was actually a really fun jump.

IMG_0168.jpg

Unfortunately, the Sunrise (or is it the Sundown?) lift was broken. We were in search of powder so we decided to hoof it up. Little did we know that Jen had secretly sabotaged the lift to avoid having to ride it.

IMG_0169.jpg

At the top of Sundown/rise after the hike Judy and Patty warm up in a little hut. The flash went off in this pic, capturing the snow in the process.

IMG_0170.jpg

Here, the flash is turned off.

IMG_0171.jpg

Another spectacular shot of Judy.

IMG_0172.jpg

And another!

IMG_0174.jpg

As usual, Moose Tracks ice cream was provided in the freezer.

IMG_0175.jpg

Clearly, nobody liked the ice cream much.

The next day, getting ready for a day at Snow Basin.

On top of ol' Judy, all covered with snow...

IMG_0186.jpg

Getting ready to leave. Check out that awesome packing job!
